Web 2.0 Challenge

Here is my beginning post on a blog I started some time back. I wonder if I started it after one of the training sessions at Offline or other State Library training. Anyhow, needlesstosay, I have not kept it up but here it is. And I know my first Lesson is only a month late but I am going to try to get caught up to Lesson 4 RIGHT NOW! So now that I am finally getting started give me some feed back about how the Challenges are going. I will take a few minutes to read and post on other people's, but gosh, such a bunch of them. And I am trying to keep up with a couple of blogs on election news...

Helena Book Festival

I just returned from a trip to Helena for the 3rd annual Book Festival. One interesting session was on the extravagance and excess in the contemporary poem. A Missoula professor provided examples of poetry which provokes thought and reflection. Harryette Mullen in her poem "Jinglejangle" from the book Sleeping with the Dictionary (2002)matches the letters of the alphabet with words to evoke thoughts about our society. Her "e" stream of consciousness words begin:
eager beaver Earl the Pearl easy greasy Eat a Pita
eenie-meenie Etch-a-Sketch
Evel Knievel Even Stephen Eye in the Sky...

By not using grammatical syntax, the reader is left to make connections within their own world view.
More on the festival later.
